Sri Lanka on Track to Break Tourism Records in 2024

Over 1.6 Million Visitors So Far, with India Leading the Way in Arrivals

Sri Lanka is set to surpass its ambitious goal of 2.3 million tourist arrivals in 2024, showcasing remarkable recovery and growth from the 1.4 million visitors welcomed in 2023. By October alone, the island nation had already hosted 1,620,715 travelers, signaling strong momentum in its tourism sector.

October 2024 saw an impressive 135,907 arrivals, a noticeable increase compared to 122,140 in September. The fourth week of October marked a peak, with 31,076 tourists arriving, highlighting an uptick in interest during the month.

Leading the charge in arrivals is India, contributing 322,973 visitors so far, followed by the United Kingdom with 146,670. Other notable contributors include Russia, Germany, China, and France, cementing Sri Lanka’s position as a globally appealing destination.

With its diverse attractions and growing international appeal, Sri Lanka is poised to achieve a historic milestone in tourism by year’s end.
